Moriarty to head CAA by next summer

richardRichard Moriarty the current deputy chief executive and also group director of consumer and markets will work with the current chief executive Andrew Haines  till the changeover happens by  next summer.

 

 

 

 

In 2016 he  re-joined the CAA  as the chief executive at the Legal Services Board overseeing the legal profession in England and Wales.

 

 

 

 

 

Earlier he had held senior public and private sector roles at Affinity Water, the Social Housing Regulator, the Postal Services Commission and the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets.

 

 

 

Dame Deirdre Hutton, chair of the Civil Aviation Authority, said that Moriarty  had been selected from a significant number of first class candidates and Richard stood out.

 

 

Moriarty leadership qualities were recently  put to the test during the flying programme he led following Monarch Airlines entering into administration.

 

 

He clearly demonstrated his operational scope and capabilities.

 

 

Moriarty said  that he had  a special responsibility to protect consumers and the broader public along with  enabling the sustainable growth of an innovative and diverse industry that played a significant role  for the economy.
