Cities like Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier, Chefchaouen along with Fez would be explored along with their recently-restored monuments by a delegation comprising all the top rung executives of Chinese travel agencies, radio and television, and electronic and print media operators from Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou respectively.
The trip would be covered by the representatives from CCTV, China’s first national channel which has an audience of more than 700 million viewers along with Shanxi Daily and its digital relay baokanhuici.com, one of the most visited websites in China.
ONMT is the main organizer of the event. It would be followed by many other activities focused at promoting Morocco in Chinese market and assisting to increase the attractiveness of the destination and creating a Chinese demand for Morocco. The main target of this strategy lies in attracting as many as 100,000 Chinese tourists to Moroccan cities by the end of this year.
Morocco has succeeded in creating a record increase of 300 percent in Chinese visitors in the space of one year. This majorly happened because of the removal of entry visas for Chinese nationals. To go with this momentum, the ONMT has entered into collaboration with airlines including Air France, Etihad Airways and Turkish Airlines. The chief target lies to make sure regular flights and increase flows from China, pending the launch of direct flights between Morocco and China. As per Abderrafie Zouiten, head of the Moroccan National Tourist Board (ONMT), “this initiative will also help to better marketize Morocco in the Chinese market.”
