The Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau took pleasure in a very good 2018 and is all prepared to make this year a record breaking one as well.

In Monongalia and Preston Counties the 2018 Annual Report shows that there are about 2,680 people associated with the tourism sector. Over the year, tourists spent about $2 million and generated $2.6 million local government revenue and $31.4 million in state tax revenue.

To quote the President and CEO Susan Riddle, ”We focus on two things- one more, one more dollar. The more we generate those overnight stays and generate new individuals coming to our communities to spend money in our restaurants, retailers, destinations, whatever that might be.”

Hotel occupancy increased 11.2 percent, demand increased by 9.5 percent and revenue raised 16 percent.
