The state tourism department of Madhya Pradesh is keen to lure overseas tourists to the heart of ‘Incredible India’. By eyeing the progress and profit of the US market, the state department introduced a rigorous campaign to set up its brand in the international market. Side by side, the department has also nominated a US agency, named Latitude International to execute the drive tactically over the next five years.
Targeting the rich heritage, culture and wildlife of Madhya Pradesh, the tourism board is trying to display Madhya Pradesh as a ‘must explore’ part of India.
In order to succeed in this effort, the state will train and educate ‘travel professionals’ and introduce new deals for the tourists. Hariranjan Rao, Principal Secretary, Tourism, explained that two officials associated with the department will participate in the United States Tour Operators Association’s (USTOA) annual conference that will take place in November. Also, they’ll host educational workshops in New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles in the month of December.
“We were expecting an increase in the inflow of international tourists in 2017, as we took many initiatives for the same,” said Rao explaining that the board is working in order to attain the target as there numerous new schemes waiting.
Executive director of state tourism, Om Vijay Choudhary explained that the department in association with the agency and local representatives are working together to execute a drive comprising communications, marketing, and advertising efforts to showcase MP as an attractive destination for international visitors.
