So, like every year, the mountains based in Shan State in the country of Myanmar are all geared up to welcome this grand festival!
The festivities in Taunggyi that is the capital of the region of Shan State is believed to be much more attractive than the previous years, as stated by the organizing committee. In the period between 8th and 15th November, large papier-mache hot air balloons in various sizes and shapes are launched in the afternoon in the grounds close to Taunggyi.
In the evening around 8 p.m., the region witnesses a spectacular sight when the fire balloons are released.
When the fire balloons attain a height of about 20 metres, the fireworks attached to these balloons start exploding in different directions presenting a unique sight to the assembled people.
The Tazaungdaing festival is one of the most beautiful festivals that should never be missed if tourists are visiting the nation of Myanmar. The foreign tourists would be capable of observing the magnificent fireworks and the launching of balloons from a safe distance, as declared by Myanmar Tourism Marketing.
Tourists would find walking around the festival quite interesting.
A large number of people generally participate in this lovely festival for indulging in a great deal of games, food and drinks.
In Myanmar, about 84% of the households are devoid of electricity. Therefore, one would not be taken aback to learn that this festival of lights is celebrated without any electric supply. For instance, the Ferris wheel that is completely powered by man.
This festival has been continuing for many decades. The people of Shan are quite eager to keep this great festival alive, complete with all its traditions.
While the festival goes on, hot air balloons are launched in every nook and corner of the country. However, that is done on a smaller scale as compared to Taunggyi.
