Mysore Minister for Tourism Priyank Kharge said, “In a month or two, publicity campaign would be launched in National and International levels for Dasara to woo more tourists.” He said that a lot of good suggestions have come from the private sector regarding developing tourism in the city.
The minister said that he would discuss the matter with District in-charge Minister and start publicity campaign for Dasara shortly. He said that the tourism department alone cannot attract tourists to the city and needs assistance from other departments and private players. He said that the private sector has been asked to prepare a year-long calendar of events for Dasara and put forward to the department. There are also proposals to organize International Yoga Day and World Tourism Day in the city. The minister also said that a mobile app providing information on popular tourist spots in the city and its history would soon be launched in English and Kannada. A similar app has already been released in Bengaluru.
Mr. Kharge also added that ‘open street festival’ would be considered for launch in Mysore, which would help in boosting tourism and business activities.
