Amtrak is the most convenient way to travel to this year’s North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, N.C. Beginning Oct. 14 and continuing through Oct. 23, the Carolinian (Trains 79/80) will make a special stop twice a day near the fairgrounds entrance. Low fares may be available for customers who book at least two weeks in advance.
Customers traveling from Charlotte, Kannapolis, Salisbury, High Point, Greensboro, Burlington, Durham, and Cary will have easy access to the fair. The northbound Carolinian leaves Charlotte at 7 a.m. with a scheduled arrival at the fairgrounds at 10:09 a.m. The southbound Carolinian departs the fairgrounds at 4:56 p.m., with a scheduled arrival in Charlotte at 8:12 p.m. The special stop is wheelchair accessible and the train has free Wi-Fi.
This special stop for the state fair has been available for 21 years.
