Vietnam along with other five countries under the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) and their tourism ministers have finally decided to assist more in terms of responsible tourism, tourism marketing initiatives, and creating more varied tourism products.
At the 3rd Meeting of Tourism Ministers of countries under ACMECS in HCM City that was organized yesterday September 7th, the ministers from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam presented their viewpoints clearly.
Nguyễn Ngọc Thiện, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam observed that in 2016, the total number of overseas tourist arrivals in ACMECS countries reached 54.75 million which accounted an increase of 5.29 percent in comparison to the statistics of 2015 respectively.
The intra-regional tourists reached 8.95 million which is an increase of 16.35 per cent of the total number of international tourists with 5.04 percent annual growth in comparison to 2015.
In the month of October 2016, in Hà Nội, the tourism ministers accepted the Declaration of the 7th ACMECS Summit, while a Plan of Action on ACMECS Tourism Cooperation 2016-2018 was already decided in 2015.
