Nene-Uwa Hub Ltd. in association with TVP Adventures and other tourism and environmental enthusiasts would be taking part in a special beach clean-up & tree planting event to celebrate World Tourism Day 2017. The event themed “Sustainable Tourism- A Tool for Development” will take place at Point of No Return, Badagry Slave Trade, Badagry, Lagos on Saturday, September 30, 2017.
This beach, one of Nigeria’s prominent tourism landmarks, is the ideal location to carry out a campaign for sustainable tourism for creating awareness about the benefits of being eco-friendly and sustaining tourist destinations.
On the day of the event, 40 tourism and environmental enthusiasts will join Badagry local residents for cleaning up the beach and also planting coconut trees along the shoreline.
A photo contest will also be held where participants would be required to share photos taken of them at a Nigerian tourist site they have visited with a caption story of less than 50 words on how they can be a better and responsible traveler using the hashtags: #TravelEnjoyRespect #IY2017 #NaijaWTDPhotoContest #NeneUwa. Three winners from this contest would not only win an all-inclusive local tour package from various sponsors, but their pictures would also be used to make post cards to commemorate World Post Day on October 9th, 2017.
