According to Nepalese Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Nepal is a country natural and cultural diversity and is a captivating tourist destination in the world. The VP was inaugurating the 44th anniversary of Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management on Sunday. He said that in spite of being an attractive destination, Nepal still needs to explore the tremendous potential of tourism and no doubt, tourism is Nepal’s national pride.
To quote Pun, “The natural and cultural specificities are gifts to boost tourism in Nepal. But, the country is waiting for establishing tourism as an industry.” He said that tourism should be linked to sustainable economic development. Creating skilled human resources for the tourism sector was another need.
State Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Parshuram Tamang also stressed the importance of building infrastructures for economic prosperity to tourism. Shanker Prasad Adhikari, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation also said that the role of Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management could be expanded by creating quality human resources.
