As per the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), as much as 75% of the hotels are already booked currently. The hotel bookings in the corresponding season was just 60% and many bookings have already been cancelled. Binayak Shah who is the general secretary of HAN said that over 900 thousand foreign tourists are expected to visit Nepal in 2017.
The tourism statistics, thereafter would account for the highest tourist arrival so far, of the expected number of international visitors arrive here this year, Shah added.
In the year 2012, the tourist arrivals numbered around 800 thousand.
Majority of the tourists from China and India have been observed to be heading for Nepal. Moreover, the Indian tourist figures surpass the figure for visitor arrivals from other nations.
Shah had estimated that more tourists be arriving in Nepal as the Non Resident Nepalis Association has planned its Global Meeting in Kathmandu on 11th October. The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) data says that about 600 thousand tourists from different nations have arrived in Nepal in the initial six months and the successive months till date in 2017.
In the initial six months of 2017, four hundred sixty thousand 304 tourists had headed for Nepal.
The figure stood at 359 thousand 672 in the first five months of 2016.
HAN figures state that about 45 thousand hotel beds are presently available in Nepal. And plans are on to add 4,000 more beds.
