Entries are now open for this year’s event, being held on the Gold Coast between 6-9 October with a special `early bird’ discount on offer to those who register a team before June 18.
Now in its sixth year, NetFest offers netballers of all ages and abilities the chance to spend four days doing what you love – playing netball and socialising – with thousands of others from across Australia and New Zealand.
It’s become a `must do’ event and is an ideal end-of-season trip for local or social netball clubs.
You can compete in the `traditional’ outdoor format or have a bit of fun and play on the beach.
In 2015, more than 2500 competitors from 275 teams took part in NetFest.
Queensland Minister for Tourism and Major Events Kate Jones said NetFest was a fun and competitive way for players from across Australia and New Zealand to experience the Gold Coast.
“NetFest is a fantastic way for players from across Australia and New Zealand to experience the Gold Coast and all it has to offer,” Ms Jones said.
“The festival has grown to be one of the state’s largest participatory events and showcases Queensland as a major sporting events destination.
“I wish all players the best and hope they take the chance to explore the beaches, restaurants and cafes, hinterland, theme parks and entertainment in the region.”
NetFest is run with the support of Tourism Events Queensland and the City of Gold Coast.
“Our city is thrilled to play host to NetFest which traditionally attracts more than 2200 netball enthusiasts,” Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said.
“The event is a perfect match for our Sports Plan which aims to attract greater participation in sport as well as luring major sporting and social events to our city.
“October is the ideal climate for both the outdoor and beach formats which make up NetFest and I encourage players, officials and spectators to stay on a enjoy everything that makes us Australia’s No.1 holiday destination.”
