Network Rail – Ever looked out of your train window at the people in orange and wondered what they were doing out there? Or what your driver was thinking as the miles rolled by? Or how British Transport Police keep up the fight against cable thieves?

Tuesday night on BBC2 is your chance to find out. The Railway: Keeping Britain on Track is a new series which was given exclusive, behind the scenes access to every part of the railway. From the comedic to the tragic and everything in between – all railway life is laid bare.

Stars of the show include:
– The Mussa family at Leeds station – three members of the family work there, two with East Coast and one with Northern Rail, on the frontline dealing with passengers in the good times – and the bad
– Jason Halstead is a Northern Rail driver on the real ale trail in Huddersfield who keeps a level head while his passengers lose theirs along the trail
– Kev’n’Stev, are Network Rail track workers based in Wakefield who fight a seemingly endless battle against trespassers and the elements

-Jerry Dickinson – the modern day “Fat Controller” in York – who may not be fat but shares his fictional counterpart’s enduring love for trains
