Network Rail’s orange army working hard to combat Storm Imogen and keep passengers moving

networkrail-placeholderCheck before you travel is the advice from Network Rail today as the orange army continues to battle storm force winds and heavy rain brought by Storm Imogen.Rapid response teams have removed trees, branches and other obstructions from lines across the south and south west of England while flooding is causing disruption in Wales.

Due to winds of up to 100mph and the risk of flooding, speed restrictions are in place so that drivers can stop in time if they spot an obstruction on the line ahead. As a result, journeys may be subject to delay or disruption.

A spokesman for Network Rail said: “The safety of passengers and staff is our top priority and just as car drivers adjust their speed to the road conditions, the same applies to the railway.“We will be monitoring weather conditions throughout the day and have specialist teams on hand to deal with any issues caused by the storm.“Please check before you travel by contacting National Rail Enquiries for the latest information.”
