A special English-language reservation app for Shinkansen of Japan is about to be launched, making it more convenient for tourists to reserve tickets from overseas as reported by the regional news media on Friday that is 27th October, 2017.
At present, there exists an online reservation system for trains travelling to the north from Tokyo and it is being operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East).
This app would be launched on 30th October.
And it would permit tourists to reserve tickets for journeys heading south from Tokyo along the ‘Golden Route’ that includes Mount Fuji, Osaka and Kyoto.
Users would be able to reserve tickets utilizing the free SmartEX app with their credit card.
Once they are in Japan they would have to swipe their registered credit card at a special dedicated machine prior to receiving the ticket. If the user possesses a transport IC card from previous trips to Japan either Pasmo or Suica, they can easily opt for a ticket-free reservation.
The app can be utilized to make changes to a reservation, as reported by the regional news media agency of Japan.
Users in Australia, Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore and America would be having access to this app but then more nations would be joining the list. The news media also reported that the app would be utilized along with the Japan Rail Pass for the time being.
