Born in Palermo, Sicily, Filippo La Mantia settled in Rome and has extensive experience in the industry. In his new position, he will run the hotel’s two main restaurants ‘Magnolia’ and ‘Time’, ensuring consistent high quality food and service.
Filippo brings the authentic essence of Sicily into the kitchen – colours, fragrances, fun and a great zest for life. He regards cooking as an art, a source of energy and inspiration, and sees food as a universal language.
In 2007 Filippo’s book ‘Host & Chef’ was published and his career has also inspired a film called ‘All the Women of My Life,’ which includes an account his role as chef to the well-known Italian actor Luca Zingaretti.
Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah Grand Hotel Via Veneto Carlo Acampora said: “We are delighted to welcome Filippo to Jumeirah Grand Hotel Via Veneto. He brings not only a wealth of experience, but the kind of flair and artistry that will appeal to both the discerning diners of Rome and our hotel guests. His reputation for authentic Italian and Sicilian cuisine and imaginative service will set the hotel apart as a must-visit culinary destination in the city.”
