New bus route in Thailand’s Chiang Mai province to facilitate travelling for locals, tourists

New bus routeWith an aim to encourage people to use more public transportation to help reduce traffic, a new public air-conditioned bus has been launched in Thailand’s northern Chiang Mai province.

The bus connects Baan Kwan Wiang village with the city centre, charging only 20 baht (RM2) for the whole trip, Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.

The bus has a capacity for 21 passengers.

Passengers taking the bus would be charged only 20 baht for the whole trip, while students and monks would be charged only 15 baht (about RM1.70)

The objective of the new bus route is to facilitate travelling for the local residents and tourists around the city, as well as encouraging the public to use more public transportation to ease traffic congestion and air pollution in the city centre.

Official from the Chiang Mai Transport Office Charnchai Keelapang, the military, police, and public jointly launched the new bus route.
