A new campaign with special packages for couples has been launched, inviting romantics and lovers of beach getaways to ‘Fall in Love with Port Stephens’.The online and digital campaign by Destination Port Stephens has been timed to coincide with Valentine’s Day, February 14, and offers special packages for couples to enjoy short breaks – or ‘speed dates’ in Port Stephens, 2½ hours north of Sydney, between now and the start of Easter.
Capitalising on Destination Port Stephens’ year-round branding tag of ‘P.S. I Love You’, the new ‘Fall in Love with Port Stephens’ campaign includes video posts on Facebook and Instagram of dozens of locals and visitors of all ages who were randomly asked recently to describe why they loved Port Stephens (P.S). Answers ranged from the great beaches, pristine scenery, weather and fishing to the safety and appeal of the region for children and families.
And for die-hard romantics who have fallen in love with Port Stephens and want to tie the knot in the region, the new Love Port Stephens Weddings’ group, in conjunction with Destination Port Stephens, has this month released the first wedding magazine for the area. The lavish, 60-page brochure will be launched this weekend at the huge ‘One Fine Day Wedding Fair’ in Sydney on February 6 and 7. Five representatives from the weddings industry in Port Stephens will attend the fair which will attract more than 3000 people. The fair is the first time businesses in Port Stephens have worked together to promote weddings in the region.
Rebecca Morley from Destination Port Stephens, who will attend the wedding fair this weekend to launch the magazine, said the ‘Fall in Love with Port Stephens’ initiative was designed to attract visitors between now and Easter, build on the long-term love affair so many people have with the destination and to invite newcomers to fall in love with the coastal region for the first time.
“With the peak summer crowds in our wake, now is the perfect time for couples to enjoy a romantic rendezvous in Port Stephens,” Ms Morley said. “As our campaign shows, many repeat visitors treat Port Stephens as an old flame, with a long-term romance established over several decades while others are meeting Port Stephens for the first time but quickly fall head over heals with our abundant natural scenery, wildlife and feeling of escape.
“And for couples who want to spend their big day in the area, our beautiful new ‘Love Port Stephens Weddings’ magazine showcases all the great ways they can get married and celebrate their nuptials in the region, from proposals and bucks and hens parties, all the way to the ceremony, reception and honeymoon.
“We’re confident the ‘Love’ campaign and weddings initiative will boost our vital visitor economy and also provide wonderful experiences and memories for couples and their families who love spending quality time in Port Stephens.”
