According to the media reports, Visit Florida’s new campaign is a ”four-pronged” marketing plan aimed at helping the state’s tourism industry after hurricanes Hermine and Matthew.
Visit Florida president and CEO Will Seccombe said that, till last week Visit Florida team was focused on the safety of the visitors and residents of Florida. Now that the storm is over, they are shifting their focus to recover and let the world know that Florida is now safe and open for tourism.
The state agency’s “Open for Business” campaign includes a series of 32 time-stamped videos along with a supporting social media campaign and customized plans to support the communities damaged by Matthew and Hermine.
Transparency is essential in attracting tourists in these situations, said Virginia Haley, president of Visit Sarasota County, who also is a Visit Florida board member.
After experiencing many natural — and manmade disasters — the state agency has learned that transparency is the key to recovery.
Visit Florida hosted a call with its board of directors and county tourism marketing agencies earlier this week to get a community-by-community damage assessment and to review plans to promote the state to visitors.
To help tourism businesses get back on their feet, there is a free recovery program.
