Virgin Atlantic has launched its new stylish airline founded by the entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson at the Metro Airport as people watched the red and white Boeing 787-9 named “Dream Jeannie” arrive from London Heathrow.
The media had a delightful time as they watched Sir Richard stepping down from the plane with a steam of attendants in their perfectly fitted livery.
The flight will serve daily between Detroit and London. The service was launched from June 1. It will be the only airline to fly direct, daily flights between the two cities.
Virgin joins with its partner Delta Air Lines to fly nearly 155,000 passengers between Metro and Heathrow, who could then connect from Detroit to Delta’s other connections through.
The airline will prove very beneficial for passengers as it will offer services from Metro and will be the fifth carrier to offer non-stop trans-Atlantic services from the airport.
This move will also increase tourism in Detroit and Mayor Mike Duggan greeting this new move from Virgin with great felicitations. Nearly 20 years ago, he was negotiating as a deputy county executive with Delta to build the McNamara Terminal. Sir Branson may also plan on opening a Virgin hotel in Detroit.
