With the enthusiasm of a child opening a Christmas present, he unveils a bottle of Tequila Avión, a shipment of which had just arrived to the Hotel – just in time for some sunset cocktails.
Luís’ idea was a bit out-of-the-box, but an exciting one nonetheless. To engage guests even more and help them get involved in the bar’s atmosphere, he created a do-it-yourself tequila cocktail that he would make together with clients, right then and there at the Ritz Bar. A long-awaited concept was finally put in place in the form of The Flying Mexican – a natural denomination following its main ingredient, Tequila Avión. The tequila is accompanied by lime juice and chamomile syrup, and clients can smell the tequila and shake their drink, which will then be served by the bar team. This interactive experience allows guests to get up close and personal with their drink and truly experience the flavours before and after they’ve come together.
The Ritz Bar at Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon is an ideal meeting spot for drinks or a light bite, featuring a wide selection of traditional Portuguese dishes along with an extensive wine list, selection of ports, and vast menu of cocktails.
For those who wish to make the Flying Mexican at home, Luis shares his recipe:
The Ritz Bar’s Flying Mexican
Start by making the chamomile syrup by adding water and sugar to a cup and infusing with chamomile. Pour the tequila into a shaker, along with the lime juice and the chamomile syrup, and shake vigorously. Salt the rim of a glass and pour the contents of the shaker into the glass, and enjoy. Makes one cocktail.
