Wesgro, Cape Town and the Western Cape’s official tourism and investment promotion agency has collaborated with dnata World Travel to enhance Cape all through the states in Gulf Cooperation Council as it became a significant halaal destination in the world.
From 2018, Dnata will carry on marketing and sales efforts. It will also chalk out promotional actions on behalf of the Cape in countries like Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
To quote Wesgro, ‘’ through our Project Khulisa growth strategy, we are seeking to boost tourism to the Western Cape, and we have identified the Gulf Co-operation Council states as important target markets.’’
As per 2014-2015 State of the Global Islamic Economy report, 117 million Muslim tourists travelled all through 2015 and this figure is expected to grow to 168 million in the next three years. Over the years the number has increased with UAE having the highest number of tourist arrival in Western Cape.
This partnership with dnata World Travel will play a significant role in emphasizing project Khulisa plan, as explained by Wesgro. ‘’ With all this momentum, we look forward to working with dnata World Travel to make the Cape a more enticing Halaal tourism destination.’’
