The investigation into airport parking by car insurance specialist Admiral compared 30 airports across the UK, examining on-site parking prices for a two-week break in the summer holidays, starting on Saturday 22 July, ending on Saturday, 5 August.
The cost for London Southend Airport was £92 – making it the cheapest of all the London airports by a considerable amount. In fact, the next cheapest London Airport was almost DOUBLE the cost of London Southend (Heathrow T2, T3, T4 at £146).
As part of its airport parking investigation, Admiral also looked at the cost of drop-offs, and once again London Southend came out as the most cost effective option. It was one of just six airports UK wide that does not charge its customers for dropping off passengers.
Glyn Jones, CEO at London Southend Airport said “Our ambition is to make London Southend the capital’s next big airport and so we are very pleased with the results of this survey. It demonstrates loud and clear we are listening to customers and giving them what they want – reasonably priced, safe parking. It is also worth adding that at London Southend all our parking is on-site and just 5-minutes’ walk from the terminal building, so easy and hassle free – so a very different experience to parking at the other London airports.”
