A new strategic partnership between Mastercard and London & Partners has announced the launch of a new mobile application, Visit London Official City Guide, that will improve the visitor experience in London.
As per the recent research published in the mayor of London’s tourism vision for London with easy access to relevant tourism information the visitor’s satisfaction will increase.
Visitors will be able to use real-time data, personalized experiences and explore the less busy areas of the city through the Visit London Official City Guide app. Visitors will also be able to securely buy tickets to major attractions via the Masterpass.
A survey revealed that 57 percent of the respondents were satisfied when they had planned their dining experience, only 36 percent were satisfied when they did not take any research.
The top five key drivers for visiting the capital were architecture, attractions, parks and waterways, museums and galleries.
The app is currently live and features the latest Mastercard digital payment technology to buy advanced tickets and avoid queues, Masterpass comes embedded into the app. Masterpass stores all the card details in one secure place and simplifies shopping while making a purchase in-app.
Jason Lane the vice president, market development, Europe, Mastercard that they were more than 70 cities around the world to introduce better transport payment systems, removing tickets to ease congestion. London is leading in this sector and has the potential of making the lives of 19.1m visitors easier.
With the help of one app that allows visitors to book and pay for everything there is no need to visit websites and plan schedules.
Around 700,000 people are employed in the tourism sector and contributes £36 billion a year to the economy.The number of overseas visitors has grown to 25 per cent since 2011. There were 19.1 million overseas arrivals in 2016.
London being one of the world’s leading tourist destinations remains open to visitors from all over the globe said Andrew Cook,acting chief executive, London & Partners.
He further added that with this technology the visitor’s experience will be enriched and they can make the most of their time in London.
