For long time, New York City was one of the favorite destinations for international travelers worldwide. However, for the first time, Big Apple will be welcoming lesser foreign tourists this year. As per NYC & Company, the marketing tourism agency of New York considers that this year Manhattan along with other boroughs will be receiving some 300,000 less foreign visitors in 2017.
Negative political environment, travel ban, and anti-immigration policies have caused interest among tourists worldwide. The first executive order on immigration which left thousands of international travelers confined at the airports for long hours deteriorated the inclination of traveling to United States by foreign nationals of different countries worldwide. Online travel agencies confirm that in recent times there has a sharp decline of 12 percent in search for tickets for United States in Europe. 3.4 percent drop in business travels in the week following the announcement with a total loss of $185 million bookings as confirmed by the Economist. To add to it, one Canadian paper has declared to boycott American vacations.
However, a revised executive order on Monday morning was declared by President Donald Trump issued in order to remove the confusion around the first travel ban. Though, the intent of the order remains the same.
