Niagara Falls aims to rebrand itself for outdoor adventure

Niagara FallsNiagara Falls, world-famous adventure spot and destination, now wants to be the place to go for outdoor adventures as well for all thrill seekers. A new marketing campaign was launched on Tuesday, which rebrands the American shore of the falls as a natural playground to be explored on foot, bike, boat or helicopter.

 

The U.S. Tourism officials are always competing with their Canadian counterparts on the heavily developed Canadian side of the binational attraction. They are of the opinion, that this new campaign and focus will now attract more visitors for longer stays.

 
According to John Percy, president and chief executive of Niagara Tourism & Convention Corp., which has been renamed Destination Niagara USA., “What people are wanting to have on a getaway or a vacation is a time of experience and not just to come and witness or see and hear, but actually experience and touch and feel and do. Niagara Falls is the embodiment of America’s adventurous spirit.”

 

The refocusing, coming just before the busy season, followed interviews, focus groups and visitor surveys that found that those who visit and live in the region most value its scenic, historical and natural attributes and are drawn to outdoor adventure. Niagara Falls, Ontario, has neon-lit museums, rides and restaurants offering a carnival-like atmosphere at the water’s edge. Niagara Falls State Park sees about 8 million visitors every year from all over the world and this number is rising steadily.
