Nicole Marciacq, International Fair Coordinator, Panama Tourism Authority,  speaks exclusively to Travel And Tour World at ITB Berlin, 2017. Read the full interview here:-

Travel And Tour World: Tell us about the big things coming up at Panama in 2017.

Nicole Marciacq: We are looking to promote our key aspects of Panama. It is a country full of contrast, culture, nature, adventure and experiences. In Panama you can be in the Caribbean and in the Pacific in the same day. You can visit the rain forest, the Panama Canal and at the same time be in the modern and cosmopolitan city and visit at night the whole town of Panama, where you can enjoy the view of the entire city from one of our amazing rooftops.

Travel And Tour World: Apart from the city, what are the other things to visit at Panama.

Nicole Marciacq: 35% of Panama is National Parks. There is plenty of natural beauty, biodiversity, flora and fauna in the country. There are lots of beaches. We have 1,800 islands in the country. We also have an archipelago, that is called the San Blas Island. There are 365 islands. But there is not much hotel and touristic developments, but it is a fantastic place to visit and spend a few days amidst the crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches.

Travel And Tour World: What can you tell us about the cuisine of Panama?

Nicole Marciacq: Because of all the influence that Panama had from all the different cultures and all the backgrounds of our history, the traditional gastronomy of Panama is very fusion, but at the same time it is very typical as well. There is different type of gastronomy in each region of the country, whether it is on the Caribbean Coast or on the mountains and in the city itself you will find different types of food.

Travel And Tour World: what kind of market are you targeting?

Nicole Marciacq: Germany is one of our major markets at the moment. We have launched a new Lufthansa flight last year directly from Frankfurt to Panama. We are also targeting the market in Europe where we have direct flights, mainly Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Turkey as well. Basically we are the hub of the Americas at the moment.

Travel And Tour World: Apart from the regular hotels what are the different kinds of accommodation available in Panama.

Nicole Marciacq: Panama has something for everyone, whether you are looking for an exclusive holiday or you are looking for budget holidays. We have all the big hotel chains and there are some boutique hotels as well. Outside the city we have some exclusive beach hotels. We have hotels in the smaller islands and the mountains as well. We have a huge variety of hotels according to every needs.
