Non-profit group initiates tourism campaign for border city

download (4)A group in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, is launching a campaign about safety in the border city with the hope of bringing more tourism. Members of Love Jrz, a non-profit, non-governmental association based in Ciudad Juarez, are also highlighting recreation and tourism opportunities for tourists. In the year 2011, the city witnessed 1500 homicide cases, which sprung from incidents of violence between drug rival unions. In 2015, that number dropped to 269. Due to all these reasons, the city has not seen a rise in tourism although there has been a drop in violence.

Love Jrz has launched a Facebook page and is working on an interactive kiosk and mobile app. The kiosks will be placed in hotels, convention centres, airports and other locations to allow tourists to explore entertainment possibilities.
