The long-term tourism strategy of Noosa is paying year-on-year 30 percent increase in revenue which tantamount to $940 million. The northern end Sunshine Coast experienced a higher number visitors and spending all through 2016 because of its fantastic summers. To quote CEO Damien Massingham, “The last two quarters have seen significant growth. The total tourism spend is now $940m which is a 30% increase year on year.”
The Sunshine Coast Airport has also witnessed a steady growth in travelers that counts almost 50,000 passengers during the two weeks prior to Christmas and post New Year.
Damien Massingham said that it took hard work and undeterred financial commitment to achieve standard service and product. More than $100million was spent behind Hastings St along with refurbishment of Seahaven Resort, rebadging of Sheraton Resort while opening new other restaurants and bars as well. To quote Mr. Massingham, “There’s been a lot of hard work. Tourists won’t spend unless the quality of service and product is there.
We need to maintain the beauty of the place to ensure it is not over loved and that people will continue to come here and have a great time, spend and create and retain jobs’’.
