North Korea launched a new tourism web site this week — just before the US banned Americans from visiting the country following the death of imprisoned student, Otto Warmbier.
“Today the tourist industry in the DPRK [North Korea] is developing afresh under the wise leadership of supreme leader Kim Jong-un,” reads the site, which clues foreigners into the North’s many ski resorts, beaches, festivals and historical hotspots.
There is a wide range for the tourists as they can choose from a variety of “theme” vacations, including surfing, taekwondo, architecture and the ominous “labour tour,” where tourists participate in “rice-planting, weeding and fruit picking.”
