North Wales tourism managing director welcomes Welsh government minister’s idea

indexNorth Wales Tourism managing director Jim Jones has welcomed a Welsh Government minister’s idea for promoting Wales as a “principality” in spite of attracting criticism from others.

Lord Elis-Thomas, recently appointed as the minister for culture, tourism and sport, said that the Prince of Wales was as keener like him about the idea.

Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood denounced it as an “out-dated gimmick” while Plaid MP Jonathan Edwards accused the minister of “rejoicing in Wales’ vassal status” and “inherent subservience”.

But despite the criticisms, Mr. Jones said he welcomed any idea that could raise the profile of Wales on a global scale.
