The Airbus-319 from Chicago landed at Traverse City’s Cherry Capital Airport at 5:20 p.m. Saturday with 120 passengers.
Upon getting into the terminal, the guests were greeted with Traverse City gift bags, cherry pie from Grand Traverse Pie Company and wine samples.
United Airlines is now the second airline at Cherry Capital to schedule mainline flights in and out of the airport. This will boost the business tourism of the region.
The United mainline landing was made possible by the recent runway expansion.
Kevin Klein, the airport director at Cherry Capital said that it is fantastic for this new airline addition. With the opening up more opportunities, more seats on the market, more opportunities for lower fares, so we continue to provide that service that Northern Michigan is looking for.
Klein said Cherry Capital will continue to get mainline flights from United throughout the summer.
