Nose gear problem forces plane to make emergency landing at Dulles

emergency_landing-_at-_dullesA mechanical problem inside an aircraft that triggered a problem in its nose gear compelled a flight that was moving towards Dulles from Albany, New York to make an emergency landing.


The plane landed at Dulles around 10 p.m.


Kimberly Gibbs, spokeswoman at Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority or MWAA said that MWAA fire and rescue team had met the aircraft at the runway and promptly responded to the emergency. Thereafter, the crew members as well as the passengers were removed from the plane and then taken escorted to the terminal via mobile lounge.


Jonathan Guerin, a spokesperson of United Airlines told the media that the medics were available who could meet and respond to the emergencies of the passengers. He also said that two of the passengers were taken to the hospital with arm injuries.


The CommutAir flight 4919 was carrying 21 passengers and 3 crew member. Guerin said that the aircraft was a Dash8 regional aircraft.


According to the authorities, the cause of the incident is currently being investigated.
