At Madrid FITUR 2019, Travel And Tour World had an exclusive interview with Lidia G Palacino, International MICE sales, VP Hoteles.
She shared the fact that they wanted to give something different to Madrid, so they spoke to Madrid convention bureau and asked them what they want in a new hotel. The response was a multi-functional meetings space, location (Plaza de España), and a skybar. VP Hoteles, Plaza de España offers all these three. It took four years for the hotel to come up.
When it comes to luxury they work with America; very well recognised international companies for leisure, individual travellers as well as MICE and luxury brands. They have focus in America, U.S., but also Asia in general – China, Japan, India. They have big focus in U.K. market for MICE. Individual travellers majorly come from Latin America.
They have 1400 m2 for MICE in the whole hotel. They wanted to give Madrid a five star facility with big focus on MICE. They have 3 different offices with all technologies and innovations. These offices are connected giving opportunity to play with the spaces. Whole of the second floor is focussed on MICE. They have L- shaped 750 m2 meetings space as well.
She adds that FITUR is like selling your product from home. It gives an opportunity to clients to have a taste of Spain. They can network with international clients and vice versa.
