The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) has launched a joint effort with stakeholders in the tourism, travel and hospitality sectors for developing tourist sites in the country. Acting Director-General of NTDC, Mrs. Mariel Rae-Omoh said that the corporation would work with stakeholders in tourism for promoting the nation to the world as a favored tourism destination.
Rae-Omoh said that Abuja has been chosen for the pilot scheme with three tourism sites – Abuja Children’s Park and Zoo, Wild Life Park and Zoological Garden and Jabi Lake. Rae-Omoh said that her principal objective would be to boost the nation’s economy through foreign exchange earnings by showcasing the country’s potential to the world.
To quote Rae-Omoh, “We can only achieve our goals when the experts in the sector join their voices and ideas with ours. Then, we will set the goals to be met and come out with a practicable blueprint to achieve the set objectives.” She said that boosting morale of staff members are a must, as it would further accelerate the mission of bolstering the tourism industry.
She added that tourism, when fully developed and promoted in Nigeria, would create wealth and jobs, and ensure unity in the country.
