Of late, NYC & Company, official destination marketing organization of the city on August 23rd collaborated with Cape Town Tourism to sign a city-to-city partnership, a first-ever joint venture to promote tourism between New York City and Cape Town.
On African continent, this would be the first agreement of its kind where NYC & Company has signed contract with another destination marketing organization. Mr. Fred Dixon, NYC & Company President and CEO and Mr. Enver Duminy, Cape Town Tourism’s CEO were present in the New York City to sign the agreement on tourism partnership. A collaboration agreement in between the two destination marketing organizations is a two-year alliance which includes sharing the best tourism industry practices in terms of marketing and switching over of the marketing assets that eventually enhance reciprocal travel.
To quote Dixon, “today, we are proud to sign a first-ever partnership with Cape Town, one of the world’s most iconic and beautiful cities. New York City and Cape Town share a lot in common as capital cities of culture, cuisine and design, and we look forward to cultivating this productive tourism relationship in the year ahead.”
To Quote Duminy, “this announcement has been years in the making, but at the outset it was clear that New York is the ideal city for collaboration with Cape Town. We’re greatly encouraged by this tourism twinning agreement, after all, a city with a global reputation for world-class tourism is acknowledging that we have just as much value to offer the global traveler. We look forward to this partnership and to sharing the benefits with our communities.”
