NYC & Company, New York City’s official destination marketing organization, today announced the appointment of Elan Cole to the position of creative director. With more than 20 years of creative and design experience, Cole most recently led his own consultancy, The Future is Forever, for more than three years, during which time he worked for iconic, large-scale brands such as Infiniti Motors, JetBlue, USA Today, Timberland, MoMA and Comcast. Cole began work at NYC & Company on July 18 and reports to NYC & Company’s Managing Director, Brand Marketing, Jason Berman.
“We are pleased to welcome Elan to the NYC & Company team. His outstanding design and creative experience across a broad range of industries will be a tremendous asset to us as we look to evolve our work and continue to position NYC’s five boroughs as a must-see-visit-now destination,” said NYC & Company President and CEO Fred Dixon.
Prior to managing his consultancy, Cole held design leadership roles at creative agencies Interbrand and Anomaly; was a global creative director and founding member of the Johnson & Johnson Global Strategic Design Office; and was a design director with the Museum of Modern Art and MoMA PS1 from 2002–2006, where he led the development and execution of advertising, brand identity and communications material for all museum programming.
“I couldn’t be happier to join the NYC & Company family,” said Cole. “Both design and New York City are so deep in my DNA. I’m thrilled to be helping the organization continue to build and amplify the presence of the five boroughs in the imagination of visitors and locals alike.”
