The tourism delegation is NYC & Company’s trade and media initiatives to endorse the “new” NYC in the market of India. At the early part of this year, the U.S.-India Travel and Tourism Partnership started as a platform permitting the private and the governments sectors to improve and increase travel and tourism between the two nations.
To quote Fred Dixon, NYC & Company president and CEO, “New York City is experiencing developments across all five boroughs and we are proud to showcase these new developments including hotels, infrastructure, attractions, public art and more to Indian visitors.”
The neighborhood of the city keeps on providing the visitors with a wide array of diverse and authentic experiences. Some of the key highlights include the “New” Midtown with new attractions Gulliver’s Gate (inaugurated on May 9), National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey (will be opened this October 2017) and NFL Experience Times Square (November 2017).
To quote Ms. Makiko Matsuda Healy, Senior Vice President Global Tourism Development, “New York City welcomed an estimated 319,000 visitors from India in 2016, reflecting a growth of 10 percent since the previous year. The City maintains its position as one of the most desirable destinations for both business and leisure travelers from India.”
Last year, almost 60.7 million visitors were greeted by the New York City. It’s the seventh year at a stretch for New York to occupy the position with record-breaking tourism, with 48 million domestic and 12.7 million international visitors worldwide. By the end of this year, the city is anticipated to welcome 61.7 million visitors respectively.
