During the second annual free Old Drum Day festival, a celebration of “man’s best friend,” some of the beautifully decorated BurgDogs from 2012 will be publicly auctioned as a fundraiser for the Johnson County Historical Society and for the continuation of the festival itself. The event will be April 13 from 9 AM to 4 PM on the grounds of the Johnson County Historical Society, 302 N. Main St. in Warrensburg.
As part of the inaugural event in 2012, some of the BurgDogs were “fostered” to local organizations with the understanding that they would be part of this fundraising auction. The organizations whose dogs will be part of the auction include the Warrensburg Animal Shelter, the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, Western Missouri Medical Center, the City of Warrensburg, and Warrensburg Main Street. The auction will start at 1:30 PM on the 13th, and minimum bids will be $300.
Booth spaces at the event are still available. While the theme is focused on Old Drum, vendors need not be dog-related, and food vendors are welcome. The fee for a business selling any kind of product is $25, or $50 if electricity is needed. Non-profit groups (or those not selling anything) may rent a booth space for $10, regardless of electricity needs.
The flyer for the event, the booth vendor form, and the form required for food sellers are available at Warrensburg Main Street, Johnson County Historical Society, the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, and the Warrensburg Community Center, and these organizations have the documents on their respective web sites. All completed forms must be returned to the Johnson County Historical Society no later than Monday, April 8.
