The Tourism Department of Oman is representing 22nd session of the General Assembly of World Tourism Organisation, the meeting of the Middle East Committee and the Committee on Tourism and Sustainability held in Chengdu, China.
Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrzi, Minister of Tourism, leads the Oman Sultanate’s delegation in participating in these meetings. This meeting is fostering the tourism and travel business in the world and the Arabian countries.
The Ministry of Tourism of Oman has been keen in participating the meetings of the General Assembly to meet with its counterparts from the outside world in arrange to fortify the bilateral relations in the field of tourism.
This is the belief in the significance of this vital sector for achieving sustainable development, its ability to achieve a diversified economy, preserve cultural heritage while preserving biodiversity and supporting efforts, through which international bodies seek to develop in the tourism sector.
The main criteria of the meeting includes a number of different provisions for serving the tourism sector in all Member States of the Organisation, which includes the approval of the guidelines and for the adoption of the draft World Tourism Organisation Convention.
This meeting is to observe the application of tourism ethics, the presentation of the relevant committee’s report thereon, the appointment of an adhoc committee to finalise the draft, and the selection of the world committee on tourism manners.
