The Ministry of Tourism of Oman is keen enough to promote the spectacular mountains of Oman via different means like hiking, luxury stays and also checking out rural villages in the mountains, as per a press statement issued in Doha.
The statement added that the mountains are located at a few hours’ drive from Muscat, Jebel Akhdar and Jebel Shams.
Jebel Shams is the highest peak in the Arabian Peninsula and it is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Oman. It is a popular hiking and sightseeing area with a large number of villages in close vicinity. The statement also added that the cool climate ensures that the resorts are ideal locales for GCC residents keen to explore luxury short stays.
Salim-al-Mamari, director-general of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Tourism said that Oman is the most favored destination for people who are eager enough to escape the desert heat and avoid the beaches during the sultry summers.
He added that the mountains of the country, Jebel Shams and Jebel Akhdar are known to provide moderate temperatures in the mountains.
Wadi Mastal, located in Wilayt, at a distance of nearly 150 kms away from Muscat is yet another option for tourists keen to check out the traditional Omani way of life. Tourists would be able to enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains thanks to a wonderful viewing platform.
Visitors would also be able to explore the moderate hiking trails and experience the rural Oman since the area is farmed by the regional inhabitants growing vegetables and fruit trees.
