Oman Tourism Development Corporation (Omran) and AEG Ogden have joined hands with the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) to establish the convention and business events industry as a key economic driver for the Sultanate of Oman. Government of Oman has established the “Omran” to bring major projects and manage its assets and investments in the tourism sector including the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, which will be operated by AEG Ogden.
PCMA is internationally well-known with 6,400 members and 50,000 customers and the leading meetings industry educator has been engaged to provide training to supply chain in readiness of the opening of the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre in 2016.
PCMA’s globally recognized accreditation training programs will provide education offerings that address the key areas of sales development, service development and meeting logistics. The programs will include Certified Association Sales Executive (CASE); Convention Services Manager (CSM); Digital Event Strategist (DES); Certified Meeting Professional (CMP Online).
PCMA also plans to stage two advisory summits with senior meeting executives, the first will be for Oman and the meetings industry across the Sultanate to assist in further development and education of Omani associations/NGO’s while the second will be aimed at increasing business meetings from North America and other global markets. These summits are designed to foster international relations, peer to peer knowledge exchange and to connect the Omani community to a diversified set of global industries.
