Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams has called on the Federal Government to expand the economy by investing in tourism as a solution for the economic recession. He said this yesterday at the venue of the celebration in Lagos, stressing the need for promoting tourism as an alternative financial support for the country.
Many important dignitaries were present at yesterday’s event. Adams lamented the wasting away of tourist sites in the country as a result of governmental negligence.
To quote Adams, “I appeal to both the state and the federal government to harness the tourism potential in the country. Nigeria no doubt can become the tourism destination in the world if the government could tap into the various tourism potentials that abound in various parts of the country.” He added, “For this reason, I’m appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari, to use tourism as a veritable tool for national development and progress. All the historical monuments across the country should be renovated, and new ones built.”
