Global travel industry seeking solutions to generate relevant leads from social media

With the advent of facebook, twitter, Pinterest and many such social media websites, advertising a destination, hotel or a travel service is getting more and more trendy and effective. However, the rising number of users of these social media websites is making life difficult to avoid noise and get the right leads.




The industry leaders and CEOs of the prime travel brands are regularly tracking the Return on Investment of social media marketing. According to Canada-based Company, LeadSift, there were more than 200m conversations about travel on Twitter in October. Admittedly, 99% of those amounted to nothing and less than 1% was social leads. LeadSift analyzed 969,000 social leads that were deemed to be relevant and timely with consumers who were ready to engage.




Needless to mention, the noise of travel industry leads is pretty hard to remove and experts find it quite difficult to filter the relevant contacts to generate business. So, what should be the approach of the companies to augment the relevance of leads found from the social media websites? The answer is still looming around a probable mystery. However, the leads generated for the business traveling is quite positive and results show the increasing professionalism in the business traveling industry even on the social media pages.


Out of the major social media pages, the micro-blogging website, Twitter is gaining the most importance as people share their views, ideas, plans and intent to travel in and around their domestic boundaries. Moreover, twitter being easily accessible for the travel and hospitality sectors have grown its prominence on the users with catch tweets and flashy offers that not only draws visitors to their websites but also closes business deals.




As the world travel industry gets ready to mark its footprint on a fresh year ahead, the social media marketing and its growing momentum is gaining more and more importance. The companies are looking for better strategies to spread their word and the lead generators and trying hard to penetrate the huge crowd and enhance business.
