Overnight 15-Minute Intermittent Full Closures on Manhattan-bound Lower Level of Henry Hudson Bridge and Parkway from Kappock St Closures Scheduled for Thursday Night, Dec. 17 to Friday Morning, Dec. 18; Second Night of Closures Possible from Fri. Night to Sat. Morning, Dec. 19 (if necessary)
Between 11 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, and 5 a.m. on Friday, December 18, intermittent 15-minute full closures are planned for the Henry Hudson Bridge and Henry Hudson Parkway (south from Kappock Street exit) in the Manhattan-bound direction.
The closures are necessary to raise and install full-width steel overhead gantries at the toll plaza as part of the move to Open Road Tolling (ORT). If required, the operation will repeat again on Friday, December 18, into Saturday, December 19, until 5 a.m.
All-electronic tolling became the permanent method of toll collection at the Henry Hudson Bridge in January 2015 after a successful pilot program that has improved traffic flow at the bridge and helped reduce emissions from idling cars.
The intermittent closures will be established at the Kappock Street exit on the southbound Henry Hudson Parkway to Manhattan. Use of alternate route is recommended during this period.
