How many foreign visitors had come?
Up till June 2017, the total number of visitors made a leap of nine percent to a record figure of 7.9 million.
How much did those tourists spent?
They had spent a record $40.6 billion which accounted a seven percent rise. Chinese visitors had spent the maximum cash of $9.8b. Around fifty percent of the money was spent by the visitors before arriving on accommodation, transport, tours, food, drink and entertainment.
Which were the countries who visited maximum?
New Zealand pipped China to continue remain the largest source in international tourists for Australia, 1.23m compared to 1.16m. Nonetheless, America showed the strongest growth with a raise of 14 percent to a record of 706,000. India, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Germany and the Netherlands also showed strong growth.
What was the purpose of their visit?
Mostly they had come for holidaying and visit family along with friends. Vacationers accounted almost half of all international tourist arrivals by spending $16.7m. Education was identified as one of the significant reasons to visit for 550,000 international visitors by spending almost $11b.
Where did they visit?
NSW was one of the sought-after destinations with overseas numbers rising 10 percent to four million respectively. Followed by Victoria with 2.8m and Queensland with 2.7m respectively. The ACT was at the lowest level with least number of destinations with just 221,000 foreign visitors.
