Paris recovers from tourismParis official Ian Brossat, has spoken out against home rental services which he believes forces local people out of the main city.

According to Paris official Ian Brossat that home rental services is forcing local people out of the main city and for five years they saw a loss of 20,000 home mainly in Paris’s districts.

The French Capital has been the largest market in the world for Airbnb with 60,000 on offerParis will be following in the footsteps of  Spain, the city of New York and Amsterdam.

As per the official prohibiting the purchase of second homes in Paris will help the city from  becoming an ‘open –air museum’.

It was found that one residence out of every four no longer housed Parisians.

Airbnb is now under increasing pressure from cities claiming that it drived up rents for locals.

Brossat stated that he wants to forbid any short-term rentals of entire apartments in the First, Second, Third and Fourth Arrondissements of Paris.

However, the company countered that one Parisian out of the five are using Airbnb to add on to their income, further accusing Brossat of broadcasting the arguments of the hotel lobbies which denounced the lost revenues from tourists looking for less costly lodgings.

It is expected that the measures will be in the upcoming bill aimed at overhauling France’s real estate laws.
