This 0.8% decrease in the tourist numbers have cost the region 1.3 billion Euros.
This actually marks a 6.1% fall in takings from the year 2015, according to official reports. The new figures state that the main reason that has compelled travellers to avoid Paris include fears over terrorism and security following the massacre of Charlie Hebdo in January 2015 and the attacks in November during the same year.
The Japanese and Chinese tourists represent the greatest fall in terms of tourism numbers that represents 41.2% and 21.5% respectively.
The biggest spenders of Paris are the Chinese tourists. One of the superior quality department store has revealed that tourists from China are the main customers and their average Chinese shopper end up spending 1,400 Euros per visit.
The Europeans, however, seem to be less influenced by the fears of terrorist attacks.
But then, 27.6 fewer number of Italians had visited Paris in 2016 as compared to the previous year. The Spanish tourist figures had dropped almost by 9.9% and the British tourist figures had slumped by nearly 8.6%.
However, the Americans seem to be the least wary of any risks involved with visiting the region.
This is because their numbers dropped by nearly 4.9%.
