Driven by continued broad-based growth, the passenger traffic at Singapore’s Changi Airport reported an increase of 8.1 percent in March from a year ago. A total of 4.9 million passengers passed through the airport, according to latest figures released by the Changi Airport Group (CAG) on Friday.
Bangkok moved to the top of the cities list, accounting for over a million passenger movements.
In particular, Thailand, Malaysia and China registered double-digit increases for the third consecutive month, CAG said.
Double-digit growth was registered for South East Asia, North East Asia, South Asia and the Middle East & Africa.
For the first quarter of 2016, Changi Airport registered 14.4 million passengers, 9.9 percent higher than during the same period last year.
Aircraft movements were 4.6 percent higher, while cargo shipments increased 5.2 percent.
For the quarter, aircraft movements rose 5.6 percent to 88,790, while airfreight movements registered an increase of 3.3 percent, totalling 450,440 tonnes.
