The brutal cold temperatures broke records on the US East Coast resulting in a deadly winter storm.
Furious passengers have been stranded for days with immense backlog resulting in further meltdown with flooding in Terminal 4.
As per the images broadcasted it was observed that water gushed from the ceiling and the arrival area was submerged with standing water and a few intrepid passengers picked their way.
JFK warmed the passengers via Twitter of flight delays, confirming water main break at Terminal 4 along with advising to check with the airline before commuting to the airport.
Some of the airlines processed by Terminal 4 was Air India, China Airlines, Delta, Egyptair, El Al, Emirates, Etihad, KLM Royal Dutch, Singapore Airlines, Thomas Cook and Virgin Atlantic.
Terminal 1 serving the likes of Air France, Japan Airlines and Lufthansa was forced close to international arrivals on Saturday.
It was reported that around ninety-four flights were cancelled at JFK on Saturday and 17 diverted due to extreme cold and storm recovery leading to cascading series of issues for the airlines and terminal operators mentioned the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey that ran the airport.
JFK saw record lows for January 7 with four degrees Fahrenheit.
The East Coast will still face bitter cold with highs below freezing as far south as parts of North Carolina.
There were warnings of hazardous road conditions as forecasters predicted ice accumulation from a band of freezing rain from Missouri through Ohio and Tennessee into the Mid-Atlantic.
